Squint Project

The Cause: Strabismus, commonly known as Squint, is a disorder involving the misalignment of the eyeballs. It concerns adults as well as children of both genders.
Importance of the Treatment: Children with Strabismus often suffer from a deep psychological impact. If left untreated, this condition can lead to poor vision. Over and above, it has a deep psychological impact due to social stigma associated with Strabismus. They are often outcast at school and even at home.
The Issue: Waiting list of Squint consultations and surgeries at Subramania Bharati Eye Hospital Moka, which if not addresses, may take a long time to clear. By the time they get attended to, these children are growing up with this stigma and challenge.
The Solution: Fast tracking consultations & surgeries.
The Project: The Rotary Club of Bagatelle, in partnership with the Ministry of Health & Wellness and the Rotary Club of Pondicherry – Agaram, India, collaborated with the Subramania Bharati Eye Hospital Moka to treat children with Strabismus. An MOU to this effect has been signed between the Ministry of Health and Wellness and the Rotary Club of Bagatelle.
