President Message

Dear Rotarians, Rotaractors, friends, and visitors,
It is with both humility and great enthusiasm that I step into the role of President of the Rotary Club of Bagatelle for the year 2025–2026.
When asked if I am ready for this responsibility, my answer is simple: yes, I am ready, but not alone. I am surrounded by the strength of our founding members Amaresh, Harsha, and Kishore, by the confidence of Immediate Past President Veena, by a dedicated committee, and above all, by the energy and fellowship of every member of this vibrant club.
Our Priorities
This Rotary year, our journey will be guided by three key priorities:
- Membership: Growing our club through active membership drives, welcoming passionate individuals who want to serve and make a difference.
- Impact: Delivering meaningful, measurable projects that respond to the real needs of our community.
- Continuity: Building on what we have already achieved, ensuring stability and long-term impact by carrying our projects forward year after year.
At the heart of all this lies fellowship: the magic ingredient that makes our club strong and enduring.
The Rotary Theme: Unite for Good
This year, Rotary International calls us to Unite for Good. It is a reminder that together we can achieve so much more than any of us could alone. We will embody this spirit of unity through a clear and committed focus: the fight against bullying among young people.
In Mauritius, 147 cases of school bullying were officially recorded this year; but we know the reality goes far beyond statistics. Bullying isolates, weakens, and sometimes even breaks lives. As Rotarians, we can and must act: by raising awareness, creating safe spaces, and empowering young voices.
Our Signature Projects
In 2025–2026, our commitment will take shape through:
- A Slam Competition giving young people a platform to express themselves on themes of respect, resilience, and rejection of bullying.
- A strengthened STOPP Campaign (Smartphone & Tablet Overuse Prevention Program), focusing on cyberbullying.
- Our signature strabismus operations project (Squint), restoring not just vision but dignity and confidence.
- The creation of a new Interact Club, empowering youth as true actors of change.
We will also continue the Rotary Club of Bagatelle Thought Leadership Series, bring support to vulnerable families, and remain present wherever a helping hand is needed.
Looking Ahead
Our District Governor, Bernard Leong Son, reminds us to pursue the Rotary story with clarity, love, and unity. We take this guidance to heart as we step forward into a year of service, laughter, and shared purpose.
Together, let us make this year one of meaningful action, enduring fellowship, and true impact.
Yes, I am ready, ready to live this journey with you, to uphold our values, to make our club shine, and above all, to unite for good.
With gratitude and fellowship,
Nafeesha Kinoo
President 2025–2026
