Shaping Business Success in 2025

On Friday, 28 February 2025, the Rotary Club of Bagatelle hosted an insightful event on Workforce Trends – Shaping Business Success in 2025. We had the privilege of welcoming Sriram Iyer, a seasoned expert in Human Resources Management, as our guest speaker.

Sriram captivated the audience with his deep insights into modern HR practices and the evolving role of AI in the workforce. A highlight of the evening was his live AI demonstration, which sparked curiosity and meaningful discussions among attendees.

His thought-provoking presentation set the stage for an engaging networking session, where ideas and perspectives flowed freely.

The New Agenda for Mauritius' Economic Sustainability

The Rotary club of Bagatelle hosted a forum debate on “The New Agenda for Mauritius’ Economic Sustainability” with the following prominent panelists : Mr. Sushil Khushiram, Former Minister and Independent Director, Mrs. Shamima Mallam – Hassam, Managing Director, Trident Trust Company (Mauritius) Ltd and Mr Kugan Parapen, Economist. The moderator was Rotarian Amit Bakhirta, CEO of ANNEAU.

Various critical themes were covered mainly concerning the challenges of the International financial sector and opportunities for Mauritius, the devaluation of the rupee, the brain drain cycle of human capital, development of new economic pillars and financial sectors macro economic reforms, amongst others. The panelists have put emphasis on how Rotarians can support the local economy.

The event was attended by over 100 guests from all walks of life and diverse professional sectors including several Rotarians from other Rotary Clubs and Past District Governors.

On this occasion the Rotary Club of Bagatelle welcomed Mr. Shashank and Mrs. Anjali Malviya from the Rotary Club of Bombay Airport with whom our President Veena Moloye exchanged club penants.

The New HR: Leading the Way to Build the Organisation of the Future

The evening featured two distinguished speakers, Dr. Anuradha Rao, Founder and Principal Consultant of LeAd (Aaradhya Learning and Development) Solutions and CEO of PANFISH Solutions Pvt Ltd, and Sudev Rao, Operations & Transformation Lead and a Consultant on strategic and operational initiatives.

They discussed the evolving role of HR in shaping the future of organizations, highlighting the importance of digital transformation, adaptive workforce strategies, and the need for reskilling employees.

The session emphasized that HR should leverage digital advancements to form real partnerships with business functions, moving beyond traditional compliance roles.

The event concluded with a networking session, providing Rotarians, Rotaractors and Friends of Rotary in attendance, with the opportunity to discuss the insights shared by the speakers.

The club’s relentless pursuit of innovation was on full display at our panel discussion event on ᴀʀᴛɪꜰɪᴄɪᴀʟ ɪɴᴛᴇʟʟɪɢᴇɴᴄᴇ (ᴀɪ): ᴄʜᴀʟʟᴇɴɢᴇꜱ ᴀɴᴅ ᴏᴘᴘᴏʀᴛᴜɴɪᴛɪᴇꜱ, organised at Voilà Hotel, Bagatelle.

Our distinguished and expert panelists, Sheeba-Vinaye Armoogum, Avinash Meetoo and Jacques David Commarmond, delved into how AI is reshaping our world, sparking insightful discussions on technology and social impact.

The subject, being the hottest topic of the moment, generated passionated debates on its opportunities for businesses, in education and other aspects of life while concerns were raised about its ethical and social repercussions as well as the role of academia and public policies in advocating for responsible and ethical AI implementations in all spheres.
